What is Swoony?
Swoony is a web app for chatting with AI romantic-partner characters, built for the US BookTok and dark-romance audience. By default it is closed-door (suggestive, fade-to-black) and messaging-app style, with an optional Uncensored mode adults can switch on per chat.
Is Swoony free?
You start with 100 free Hearts, and daily check-ins keep them coming - a message costs 1 Heart, so casual chatting stays effectively free. Your first 5 POV reveals per character are free too. Hearts (one-time points, no subscription) cover everything: messages, POV reveals, and more.
Is it explicit?
By default, no - Swoony writes in a closed-door band: romantic tension, flirtation, and fade-to-black. If you are 18 or older you can turn on Uncensored for a chat, which allows fully explicit scenes between adult fictional characters. Hard limits (minors, non-consent, real people) always apply, in every mode.
What is POV?
It is the character's raw first-person inner thoughts on emotionally charged moments - the truth they would never say out loud. The first 15 reveals per character are free; after that each costs Hearts. It changes what you can see, never how the character behaves.
How does the relationship progress?
Affection deepens through five stages - First Encounter, Tension, The Pull, Falling, and Yours. It advances based on the emotional content of your conversation, not the number of messages - no stage is ever locked behind payment.
Can I create my own character?
Yes. Anyone can create a character with a simple one-form tool: an image, a persona, tags, and an opening scene. You can keep it private or make it public.
Are the characters real people?
No. Every character on Swoony is a fictional AI, clearly disclosed as such. Conversations are generated.
